paper Paper is a material response to a COVID quarantine experience. Because of initial uncertainty in early 2020 of how COVID-19 was spread, grocery stores did not allow shoppers to bring their own grocery bag. As a result, stack of single use paper bags we folded and stashed, or recycled, reached absurd proportions. My response was to use them as a surface or foundation for art making; to use a time of transition to question a hierarchy of materials and the arbitrary value placed on objects. These drawings were a response to transition, to the value of objects and materials, to a new era.
