Workshop: Cosmic Transmissions

  • Provincetown Art Museum 460 Commercial Street Provincetown, MA, 02657 United States (map)

This class will focus on drawing as a means to: work through blocks; shift perspectives; generate new ways of thinking, seeing and creating; and to let go of expectations to make room for what unfolds intuitively while drawing. Class will be geared towards understanding what is generative and what is inhibitive in each student’s unique practice, and not on formal technique.

Participants will come away with a large number of drawings and a series of exercises they can implement on their own. We’ll play with a range of materials and surfaces: charcoal, graphite, ink, ballpoint pen, crayons, chalk, objects gathered from the environment, homemade brushes, and more. Expect to experiment, get messy and to move your body. Group conversation will be a tool for processing and getting feedback.

Students will work in the Museum School studio as well as in the galleries. This workshop is designed for beginners, but may also be useful as a way to shake things up for more experienced creatives.
