Mixed Media Fiber Art
At New Art Center in Newton, MA
Build layers of imagery and color to create wall hangings or 3D pieces. Various techniques will be covered, including: basic knitting, hand and machine sewing, painting and block printing on fabric, weaving, embroidery, image transfer, staining and dyeing and more (techniques vary in every session). Materials include: fabric, thread, yarn, wire, paints, graphite, pastels, ink, colored pencils and more. We'll manipulate and transform fabrics by stitching, folding, tearing, twisting, cutting, wrapping, staining and layering. Students will be encouraged to incorporate materials and objects that have particular meaning for them.
